Joining Deloitte in Shanghai
Notes on the next chapter — Technology Transformation, consulting, and what I am carrying forward from engineering and research.
I am joining Deloitte in Shanghai as an Analyst 1 on Technology Transformation.
That sentence is simple. The path to it was not: WashU for an M.S. in Computer Science, backend work that had to stay up, research code that had to be reproducible, and a portfolio that tried to feel like a product rather than a résumé dump.
What I am optimizing for
Consulting will change the unit of work. Instead of owning a service or a model end-to-end, the job is to help clients modernize systems, ship change, and make technology actually land.
What I want to keep sharp:
- Reliable backends — clear contracts, boring failure modes, measurable uptime.
- Applied ML / CV — not demo notebooks; pipelines that survive real data.
- Taste — interfaces and writing that respect the reader’s time.
What I am leaving on the public internet
petercheng.dev stays the home base. PeterOS is still there on desktop screens. This blog is for longer notes — decisions, postmortems, and things I want to remember six months from now.
If you are hiring, collaborating, or just curious: say hello.
